Out & about....
There are many excellent restaurants nearby to choose
from, with something for all tastes. Typically in the area
you can enjoy a relaxing 3 course “menu del dia” for
under 8€. Being on the coast, fish is of course a specialty
here. During July and August we recommend you try the
local “espetos de sardinas”, sardines cooked over wood,
usually on the beach. For these you can expect to pay
around 4 or 5 €; throw in a fresh salad, a bottle of wine
and you can have a great meal in a marvelous beach side
setting. What a perfect way to spend the day!
There are a large number and variety of beaches in the area. You can choose
from large beaches, such as the famous Burriana Beach at Nerja, with the usual
sun beds, souveneir shops and pedallos, or from the smaller beaches such as
Mezquitilla, Algarrobo or Calette de Velez, which are used mainly by the locals
and the Spanish tourists. Do as the Spanish do and take your own beach chairs,
which we provide. There are also naturist beaches nearby, if you like an all over
tan!
The nearest beach to Casa Marina is a small one at the bottom of the hill. Half a
kilometre further will take you to the beach at Mezquitilla village which is a little
larger and where there are bars and restaurants.
From Mezquitilla you can take a very pleasant
stroll along the newly refurbished promenade,
passing through Algarrobo and on to the small
marina and fishing port of Caletta de Velez, right
along the paseo to Torre del Mar. You won’t be
short of refreshment stops on the way!
The local area has a large number of sports and activities available, including golf,
scuba diving, fishing, snorkeling, horse riding, birding and many more.

You will be amazed at how uncrowded many of
the beaches are here, even during August.
Casa Marina, Mezquitilla, Costa del Sol, Malaga, Spain
There are also many places of interest to visit, both in the
local vicinity such as the famous Nerja Caves, the very pretty
white village of Frigiliana, and the beautiful Lake Viñuela, as
well as trips further afield to Granada (including the Alhambra
Palace), Seville, Malaga and Gibraltar.
