This area is known as having the best climate on the Costa del Sol, and the weather here is wonderful for most of the year. While the sunshine is not guaranteed during winter and we do get rain, it is still possible to sit out and enjoy the sunshine even in January, and on nice days temperatures can often reach 18-19 degrees.

Winter sunsetThe winter months are ideal for sightseeing and walking as temperatures tend to be very agreeable and the resorts and attractions are much less crowded. Apart from the chiringuitos (beach bars), some of which close out of high season, most things are open as normal.

We supply leaflets and books for a range of suggested walks to explore the area for walkers of all levels. Included with these is The Footsteps Guide to Malaga which will guide you along a circular route of key city features giving you lots of interesting information about the city.

If you prefer to have a guide or to tour by jeep, a local company, Life Adventure have a variety of tours on offer. For visits to Frigiliana we highly recommend Sheila’s Tours. Sheila has a wealth of very interesting stories to tell. Sheila will take you on a tour of other locations too, whether you just want a short tour or a full day.

Alternatively, the Sierra Nevada Ski resort offering over 80km of runs is less than a two hour drive away. Your choice of ski’s or snowboard are readily available for hire, or simply go up to enjoy the beautiful views.

The Spanish love to party, and there are many annual fiesta’s and fairs around the area. Nerja has it’s traditional Feria during early October and the fun carries on all night long.

During Easter the Semana Santa parades can be seen in many of the towns and are a must for anyone lucky enough to be here at that time, whilst the New Year festivities always provide another excuse to party, with grand firwork displays and Music and dancing in the streets in Nerja, Torre del Mar, and many other towns.

We also find that the evening sunsets are at their most spectacular during winter. It’s a lovely time of day to relax and unwind while watching nature at it’s best.

The villa has central heating, and we can also supply hot water bottles and cosy throws to keep you snug.
